How this is worked out

Retirement contributions are deducted up to 27.5% of income, capped at R430,000 a year. Tax is calculated on the 2026/27 SARS tables, less the rebate for your age (primary R17,820; 65+ adds R9,765; 75+ adds R3,249) and the medical scheme fees tax credit (R376 a month for you, R752 for you and one dependant, R254 for each additional dependant). UIF is 1% of salary, up to R177.12 a month.

This is an estimate for salaried individuals. It does not include other income, allowances, fringe benefits or additional medical expenses. Speak to us for advice on your situation.
